Consumer's Guide To Arizona Auto Insurance

Why should I buy Arizona Auto Insurance?

Arizona auto insurance is mandatory in the state of Arizona. Before you can register a vehicle in Arizona, you must show proof of financial responsibility. This can be in the form of a certificate of insurance, a bond, or certificate of deposit or cash in the amount of $40,000.

If you do not get auto insurance:

You could be ticketed and fined between $500 and $1,000.

Your vehicle registration could be suspended.

Your driver’s license could be suspended.

Your vehicle could be impounded.

If you cause an accident, you could be sued.

When you finally want coverage, you’ll find most insurers charge higher rates for previously uninsured drivers.

What auto insurance coverages are required and what are the minimum limits I can purchase to satisfy Arizona’s financial responsibility requirements?

The required coverages for Arizona auto insurance are Bodily Injury and Property Damage. The minimum required limits are $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident for Bodily Injury and $10,000 per accident for Property Damage. If you just want to meet the Arizona legal requirements, you need to buy minimum liability coverage—“15/30/10”. If you cause or contribute to an accident, the most this coverage will pay per accident is:

$15,000 for medical expenses per person injured;

$30,000 maximum for medical expenses of all those you injure in any one accident; and

$10,000 toward fixing the damage you cause to someone else’s vehicle or personal property (fence, signs, etc.).

Be aware that minimum liability limits may not be enough to repay someone you injure, or whose property you damage, in

How Can I Lower Auto Insurance In Arizona Cost?

Drive safely! Avoid tickets and accidents. Your driving record has a huge impact on what you pay for insurance.

Drive a safe, reliable vehicle. Sports cars and high profile vehicles contribute to increased injuries, which means they cost more to insure.

Ask your insurance representative about a higher deductible (if you buy Comprehensive and Collision coverage). Your deductible is how much you pay out of pocket for a claim for damage to your car.

Ask about discounts for driver education classes.

Shop around! There are lots of insurance companies and there’s a wide range in what each charges for insurance.

Is Alabama Auto Insurance mandatory?

Yes. No person shall operate, register or maintain registration of, and no owner shall permit another person to operate, register or maintain registration of, a motor vehicle designed to be used on a public highway unless the motor vehicle is covered by a liability insurance policy in the state of Alabama.

What is the minimum amount of liability insurance coverage required by law?

The insurance must provide a minimum of $25,000 for bodily injury/death liability for one person in an accident, $50,000 for all injuries/deaths in an accident, and $25,000 for property damage in an accident in accordance with Section 32-7-6, Code of Alabama 1975. The policy must be issued by an insurance company qualified to issue motor vehicle liability insurance in Alabama.

Am I required to carry proof of liability insurance coverage in my vehicle?

Yes. In accordance with Section 32-7A-6, Code of Alabama 1975, the evidence shall be sufficient to demonstrate that the vehicle is currently covered by a liability insurance policy. The evidence of insurance shall be displayed upon request made by any law enforcement officer wearing a uniform or displaying a badge or other sign of authority. Any person who fails or refuses to comply with such request is in violation of Section 32-7A-16, Code of Alabama 1975. Any person who displays evidence of insurance, knowing there is no valid liability insurance in effect on the motor vehicle as required under Section 32-7A-4, Code of Alabama 1975, or knowing the evidence of insurance is illegally altered, counterfeit, or otherwise invalid, is in violation of Section 32-7A-16, Code of Alabama 1975.

What is considered proof of liability insurance coverage?

The best proof of liability insurance is the insurance card issued by the insurance company. The insurance cards are issued by companies qualified to issue motor vehicle liability insurance in Alabama, and contain the vehicle year model, vehicle make, vehicle identification number, name of the insured, the name of the insurance company, the insurance company NAIC number, the policy number, and the effective and expiration dates of the policy. Insurance companies often issued cards two or more times a year. Motorists must be sure that the insurance card carried within the vehicle is current.

Other acceptable documents to prove insurance include:

A temporary insurance card issued by the insurer.

A premium receipt or insurance binder issued by the motorist’s insurance agent.

The current declarations page of a liability insurance policy.

The actual liability insurance policy issued for the vehicle.

A certificate of liability insurance policy issued by either the insurer or an authorized agent.

Proof of purchase of a motor vehicle with the previous 60 days and a valid insurance card issued for the motor vehicle replaced by such purchase. The proof of purchase is to be a copy of the bill of sale if the vehicle is a pre-1975 year model, or the owner’s permit (yellow) copy of the application for certificate of title for a 1975 and subsequent year model vehicle.

A copy of the rental agreement when renting a motor vehicle which specifies the insurance coverage

Answer:

CHP doesn’t report anything. Your insurance company sends an SR1 if damages are over $ 750 (CA) or bodily injury. The only way your insurance finds out is if you were cited, you report it or CalTrans reports it.

When you buy an auto insurance policy, can you add on or remove drivers after you buy the plan if you are paying monthly.

Answer:

You should be able to add or remove drivers from your insurance policy…just because you pay monthly premiums you should be able to, after all, you are insured whether its a monthly, 6-month or yearly policy payment…the only thing that might change is your payment (i.e. paying more for the new driver, less for removing one), also a lot of companies offer multi-car discounts, good driver discounts and discounts for security equipment installed ( Lo-Jack,anti-theft alarms)…
Check with your agent to find out what is allowed.

Q: 21st Century Auto insurance question?

So my policy went up without me even being notified and of course my card was on file. When I noticed they were taking alot more money out I called and found out the prices increased even when there was another plan that I could have had at the same price! I cancelled the plan and they told me I would have to pay for the 4 days that I had insurance and they’d refund the rest of the money for the month. Well I found out they took $ 70 for just four days! I called and they tried saying it was for the policy but they really didn’t understand that I had already paid previous months nor did they want to put a manager on the phone. What can I do? Can I speak to my bank about this unauthorized charge? Thanks.

Answer:

Contact the company and go over your agents head for a full explanation. If you can’t get a resolution from them you can contact your state insurance commission about the issue to get it resolved.

However they have a right to charge you for the 4 days worth of insurance. When you sign up for auto bill pay you agree to payments and you were notified at least 30 days in advance of the rate changes, the question is if you ignored the notice or not.

As for 70 bucks for 4 days? That’s expensive but depends on where you live. Ask if there was a cancellation fee as that’s probably the case.

Find Out How You Can Get Cheap Full Coverage Auto Insurance

Owning a car is a necessity for every day life. Being mobile helps you get to work or school. It also helps do normal activities, such as shopping, meeting friends and so having fun. This freedom comes at a price. Every time you sit behind the wheel of a car, your accident risk increases. This is why many drivers today want cheap full coverage auto insurance to give them the best auto insurance coverages at a price that is affordable.

What Is Full Coverage Insurance?

Full coverage auto insurance includes comprehensive car insurance. This includes both liability insurance and collision coverage. Full coverage insurance means that you will be completely covered for any and all damages in the event of an accident. Without full coverage auto insurance, you will be left with the repair bills to your vehicle should it be damaged by causes not covered under a basic auto insurance policy. These causes can include fire, vandalism, theft, etc. Full coverage auto insurance does cost more than other forms of auto insurance. Here are some factors that determine the overall cost.

The Cost Of Full Coverage Auto Insurance

The factors that determine the cost of full coverage auto insurance include car make and safety features. Safety features such as anti lock brakes, additional driver and passenger air bags might help lower your premiums. Safety features and any other gadgets has a positive impact and many auto insurance companies can offer you better and cheap full coverage auto insurance. Your auto insurance rates might come down if you are seen as less of a risk of making a future claim.

How to Lower The Cost of Full Coverage Auto Insurance

Check to see if your own bank offers auto insurance packages, or discounts with particular insurers. You may find that using these discounts can help you save big on full coverage auto insurance premiums. If the bank has their own insurance packages, you should be able to get it for much less if you have an active bank account with them. Unfortunately the odds are against you if you are a young driver. Virtually all insurance companies will see you as a high risk, being inexperienced on the road, and statistically more prone to accidents and vehicle damages. If you have been an accident, you can take safe driving classes designed to teach you road safety so you learn how to avoid accidents. These safe driving courses are not free, but you will save a lot more on your insurance because of it.

How To Find Low Cost Full Coverage Auto Insurance

The best way to find low cost coverage auto insurance is to comparison shop. Many insurance companies offer the lowest rates to compete for your business. Many auto insurance companies offer discount rewards for safe drivers with clean records.
